  • RCTC I-215 Placentia Interchange - Construction Update September 10, 2021

    Construction Update: September 10, 2021
In the coming months, motorists driving through the project area will see significant progress as crews widen the Placentia Avenue bridge.
To allow crews to work on the bridge, there will be nighttime lane closures in both directions on I-215 near Placentia Ave., Monday, September 13 through Friday, September 17, nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. At least one lane will be open at all times. The lane closures will allow crews to build the support structure for the new bridge.
Additionally, a full closure of I-215 in both directions at Placentia Ave. will occur nightly, Monday, September 20 through Friday, September 24 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists will exit I-215 and re-enter using newly built on- and off-ramps. These ramps will only be open when this closure is in place to safely demolish the bridge.
When traveling through the project area, please allow extra travel time, use alternate routes, and follow posted speed limits.

    About the Project
Located between Ramona Expy. to the north and Nuevo Rd. to the south, the I-215 Placentia Interchange is designed to meet the needs of the area’s growing population. The project will add northbound and southbound ramps, realign E. Frontage Rd., widen the Placentia overcrossing, and add lanes from Harvill Ave. to Indian Ave. RCTC expects to open the interchange in summer 2022. This interchange is Construction Contract #1 of RCTC’s Mid County Parkway Project, which will provide a new 16-mile east-west route between Perris and San Jacinto.
