Higher Education Benefits for Veterans – College Tuition Waiver Available
February 26, 2025Higher Education Benefits for Veterans Dear Veterans and Families,
Did you know that California offers valuable education benefits to veterans and their dependents? Through the College Tuition Fee Waiver Program, eligible veterans and their families can receive assistance in covering tuition costs at California's public colleges and universities.
Some of the key benefits available through CalVet include:
- The College Tuition Fee Waiver - Covers tuition at California State Universities (CSU), University of California (UC) campuses, and California Community Colleges for eligible dependents of veterans.
- California State Approving Agency for Veterans Education (CSAAVE) - Support in accessing federal GI Bill® benefits and other financial aid options.
- Military Articulation Platform (MAP) - Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) - Earn up to one year of college credit for military training and experience. California Community Colleges (CCCs) use MAP to analyze your Joint Services Transcript (JST) and match credits to coursework. Complete a 4-year degree faster by maximizing GI Bill benefits and reducing out-of-pocket costs.
We also want to hear from you! Your input is vital in shaping the services and resources we provide. Take a moment to participate in a brief survey to share your thoughts.
