  • RCTC I-215 Placentia Interchange - Construction Update October 9, 2020

    Construction Update:
    October 9, 2020
There are no planned lane closures on I-215 near Placentia Ave. or on E. Frontage Rd. for the weeks of October 12 and October 19, 2020.
Crews will be working in the cul-de-sac area of Susan Ln. and Placentia Ave., which is between I-215 Frontage Rd. and Indian Ave. Work will begin on Tuesday, October 13 and continue through the end of the week.
In November, crews are planning to begin work near the Placentia Ave. bridge that will require lane closures on I-215. More information will be provided as the work is scheduled.
We remind motorists to slow through the construction zone and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work area along E. Frontage Rd.

    Project Progress
Drainage systems are currently under construction on both the east and west sides of E. Frontage Rd.
Motorists driving through this area can see the future alignment of E. Frontage Rd. taking shape.
Crews have started grading the paths for what will be on and off ramps for the new Placentia Interchange.
    About the Project
Located between Ramona Expressway to the north and Nuevo Road to the south, the I-215 Placentia Interchange is designed to meet the needs of the area’s growing population. The project will add northbound and southbound ramps, realign East Frontage Road, widen the Placentia overcrossing, and add lanes from Harvill Avenue to Indian Avenue. RCTC expects to open the interchange in summer 2022.
This interchange is Construction Contract #1 of RCTC’s Mid County Parkway Project, which will provide a new 16-mile east-west route between Perris and San Jacinto.
